FAQ

What should we wear?
It is best to keep clothing simple, avoiding logos or busy patterns. I always suggest layers/textures/accessories. In group photos, color coordinating is always more pleasing to the eye. Wear clothes that represent you and who you are. Feel free to bring a change of clothing.

What should we bring?
For family and/or children photo sessions: outfit changes, a drink, favorite toy, special stuffed animal. Please make sure your little one has been fed and had a nap before the photo session for a more comfortable and positive experience.

How long should my session last?
The actual session itself usually lasts about 1-2 hours or up to 4 hours for a newborn session.

What are your rates and how do we book you?
Current rates can be found on my Pricing Page. Simply let me know you would like to book a photo shoot session, what dates work best for you and what type of session you are looking for through my contact page or email me at katiefewellphotography@gmail.com. For newborn photography please send me your due date, and which newborn package best fits your needs and I will let you know if I have availability. Please note, I have very limited availability for newborn sessions at this time.

When will I receive my images?
Approximately 3 weeks after your session I will have your images finalized and uploaded to your very own gallery. Pictures will be professionally edited, color corrected (if necessary), some offered in black & white and all in high resolution. I will usually post a sneak peek photo of the session on my website and/or Facebook/Instagram page within a few days of your session. Within your contract you have a print release for all of the photos in your gallery. This allows you the freedom to have the pictures from the day of the shoot, with corrections made, to make prints from the lab of your choice. You also have the option to order directly through the gallery or through me if you are wanting something more custom!

Where should I order my prints?
You have spent precious time and money on a beautiful custom session - one that you want to pass on to future generations. My best advice is don't skimp on printing! Order through a professional (not a drugstore) photo lab. Consumer labs are great for ordering snapshots-not professional prints. Ordering through me or your gallery is highly suggested, as I am calibrated with these printers. I will also send you some other recommended labs when your gallery is delivered. I cannot guarantee satisfactory prints through places like Walmart, Shutterfly, or Target.

Where will the session take place? Do you have a studio?
The location of the photo session is up to you! Once your photo shoot date is booked we will discuss what type of feel you are looking for in your photographs, we can then work together to come up with the perfect location. You can view some of my popular locations here.
Newborn/lifestyle photo sessions are almost always held within the comfort of your own home.

What is the best time of day to have our session?
My favorite time to shoot is in what is known as "the golden hour" - that is, the hour before sunset. It makes for beautiful sun flare, dreamy light, and golden images. However, as a mom, I know that that time of day is not always your child's golden hour. :) The best time for a session is when everyone is happy and fed. I do try to avoid mid day shoots, when the sun is directly overhead, as it can create harsh shadows and unflattering light.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?
No, I do not. I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, and shots with bad expressions. I often take a few extra shots to make sure I have the perfect focus. I might snap a few extras of emotional moments to make sure I have a great shot with an idea expression for the moment. I spend hours zooming in on images and selecting the best shots from your session. I eliminate shots that I feel are duplicates and only deliver the best ones.

Do you shoot weddings?
At this time, I do not offer wedding services. I do have a list of local photographers that I would be happy to refer you to!
